Why Literacy & Education
-
There is no doubt that there is a strong corelation between illiteracy and poverty.
According to UNESCO, illiteracy rates are highest in countries with the greatest poverty. Literacy must be treated as a basic human right. The same emphasis that is put on the deliverance of other human rights, should be applied to that of literacy and education. The 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights recognizes the right to education . Literacy is key to human development, especially in this ever changing world.
